FICB PS Team Attends Final Event of IOM’s Project against Human Trafficking in Western Balkans

FICB PS team led by Project Director Andrea D'Angelo and team-leader Aleksander Krebl, accompanied by General Vincenzo Coppola of the Italian Police Arma dei Carabinieri, attended the presentation of the final Report of the IOM’s regional project “Strengthening the Fight against Trafficking in Persons and Migrant Smuggling in the Western Balkans”.

The event was opened with welcoming remarks by the Italian Ambassador in the country, Ernesto Massimino Bellelli. The topics covered in this report - preventing and tackling human trafficking, migrant smuggling, organized crime, corruption and other cross-border crimes, are part of the FICB PS project’s scope of work and are integrated in the Border Police Strategy, that will be finalized in the coming months.

The recommendations listed in the IOM’s project report present actions and measures for cross-border cooperation in the Western Balkans that are essential for ensuring effective and efficient fight against trafficking in persons and migrant smuggling.  

FICB PS project team maintains close relations and cooperation with the International Organization for Migration’s national and regional offices, through exchange of expertise, knowledge and good practices.
